Camp Brainy Bunch Camp Counselor / Aide

Inspire, support, engage, and create. Camp Counselors / Aides at Camp Brainy Bunch help to create an exciting and energetic learning experience.

Hour/Week: 20 - 40
Commitment: 2-7 weeks
Education Level: Current college student, recent college graduate, or experience working with elementary students
Compensation: $11 - $16 / hour (based on experience)

This is a temporary summer opportunity from mid June - early August. Even if you are only available for a few weeks in that window, we would still love to hear about your interest and consider your application. This role supports the camp culture and instruction of campers ranging from 6 to 11 years old. 

Who we are looking for:

  • Recent college graduates, current college students, and/or individuals currently working with youth
  • Experienced working with elementary students
  • Preferred experience: camp or after school programs; familiarity with one or more of our featured subjects; classroom experience a plus

Instructor Aide Responsibilities


  • Attend mandatory paid staff training – Training will be provided in a blended format. Online training will be completed prior to group in-person training. In-person training will be held on select Saturdays in June and July.

Camp; Let the Fun of Summer Begin:

Counselors / Aides are responsible for supporting one or more camp locations and work between 2 and 6 weeks depending on the number of sites.

Work assigned hours between 7:45AM and 5:45PM (typically 4-8 hours per day)

Responsible for supporting the successful delivery of camp curriculum alongside lead teachers

Support and lead camp games and activities outside of instruction

Supervise all students in your care with constant attention to safety (physical and emotional)

Support camp operations: morning care, check-in and checkout, clean up, etc.

Daily communication with parents/guardians 

Treat all campers, parents, and co-workers with respect, empathy, and kindness

Keep Camp Director updated and informed of daily success and needs

Maintain high standards of professionalism and integrity

  • Current college student, recent college grad, or expereince working with elementary campers
  • Ability to speak confidently and compassionately with parents and youth
  • Direct experience working with 1-6th grade students
  • Flexible and willing to have fun and support camp wherever needed
  • Classroom of camp experience preferred
  • Creative, trustworthy, high-energy, passionate about camp, inspiring, excellent communication skills, organized, and flexible
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification a plus, but we are happy to provide this training
