English Immersion Instructor
Camp Location: UC Berkeley
Camp Dates: July 15 - 28, 2018
This is a great summer camp opportunity for ESL teachers who combine learning with fun activities! ESL Summer Camp Instructors will be residential and teach English immersion courses in public speaking and leadership skills to middle school or high school international students. Instructors must have excellent communication skills and should be able to effectively lead a classroom of students with various abilities. All candidates should have a TEFL/TESOL certificate and experience teaching ESL, particularly students from China. Preference is given to candidates who have a public speaking background as well.
Successful instructors must be able to manage and work productively with campers and camp staff. Most importantly, instructors must be able to make students feel comfortable in the classroom, and should be enthusiastic about helping students improve their English speaking skills through fun and engaging activities. Instructors will also be responsible for tracking student work and handing in any deliverables to the camp director and EU home office.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, instructors should be available and willing to assist the camp director with active supervision, recreational activities, and some administrative tasks. Instructors should be mature, reliable, and able to work well with fellow staffers. Instructors are also expected to act as mentors, and will help lead field trips and guide students on excursions. With the support of the entire staff, instructors are responsible for the health and safety of students, in addition to fulfilling instructional objectives.
This is a residential position — room, board, and parking on campus is provided for the duration of the program.
