Summer Camp Counselor - Camp Brainy Bunch - 2024
Camp Brainy Bunch is hiring enthusiastic summer counselors to lead and inspire our campers this summer! Safety, fun, games, and more games.
Your camp day is all about giving kids the best summer experience through organized recreation, class support, and a constant stream of high-fives.
About Camp Brainy Bunch:
Camp Brainy Bunch runs summer day camps at various locations throughout the Bay Area. Our curriculum combines the best parts of school (learning!) with the best parts of camp (fun!). Each week our instructors teach a different curriculum designed to help our campers try on new identities as doctors, lawyers, writers, engineers, explorers, and detectives. We are hiring educators who love kids and love teaching!
Student Grades: 1-3 or 4-6
Hour/Week: 30+
Counselors may be hired for two or more weeks.
Those available for more weeks will be given priority in order to create consistency for the students

- Orinda/Walnut Creek June 17 - Aug 2 (M-F)
- Fremont June 17 - Aug 2 (M-F)
- Sunnyvale June 10 - Jul 26 (M-F)
- San Jose (East) June 10 - Jul 26 (M-F)
This is a temporary summer role.
Counselor Responsibilities
Pre-Camp:
Attend mandatory paid staff trainings
Help prepare camp materials and setup camp location
Communicate with site leader regarding camper needs/behavior, supplies needs, and schedules
Camp:
Counselors support the day-to-day operations of a single Camp Brainy Bunch location. This includes:
- Support instructor staff in the classroom with camper management, supplies, teaching, etc.
- Supervise campers during all non-instructional times (lunch and extended care)
- Primary leader of activities with campers during non-instructional times (lunch and extended care)
- Support site leader in camp operations: lunch delivery setup, check-out, high-fives for everyone
- Ensure constant attention to safety (physical and emotional) of all campers at your site
- Help organize all camp materials each day and for close down at the end of each week
- Treat all campers, parents, and co-workers with respect, empathy, and kindness
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, and integrity

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Camp or other experience supervising youth
- Ability to speak confidently and enthusiastically with parents and staff
- Direct experience working with 1-6th grade students
- Flexible and willing to have fun and support camp wherever needed
- Creative, trustworthy, high-energy, passionate for camp, inspiring, excellent communicator, organized, and flexible
- Current CPR/First Aid certification a plus (Training Available)
