Acting Course Descriptions:

Education Unlimited offers two acting camps:

High School Actors Workshop

  • The High School Actors Workshop is a one-week program that focuses on developing students' acting, creative expression, and public speaking abilities. Through daily monologue work, ensemble scene work, and diverse elective options such as Improvisation, Reader's Theatre, and Audition Technique, students will learn to establish a connection with their audience and showcase their unique charisma. The program covers various areas, including monologues, ensemble scene work, and elective options.

  • Each day, students start with a physical and vocal warm-up, followed by games and exercises aimed at honing their voice, body, and instinctual abilities. The Scene Study class focuses on contemporary plays and films, pairing students to analyze, rehearse, and perform assigned scenes. By drawing from various acting techniques such as Stanislavsky, Hagen, Shurtleff, and Donnellan, the course helps students understand the basic building blocks of realistic acting.

  • The program is tailored to individual students' needs, offering both an introduction and deepening of their acting skills. Students will learn valuable techniques and practice exercises designed to increase their range, projection, articulation, and character development. In addition, they will work on ensemble scene work, learning how to work together as a cohesive ensemble while also shining when the spotlight is on them.
  • The final monologue showcase and ensemble scene work will give students the opportunity to perform for fellow campers, families, and friends, showcasing the skills and techniques they have learned throughout the program. By the end of the workshop, students will have grown in their craft and gained the confidence and tools to pursue their passion for acting.

Middle School Actors Workshop - students entering grades 6-8

  • The Middle School Actors Workshop is a one-week program that helps students develop their acting, creative expression, and public speaking skills in a safe and supportive environment. Through daily monologue and scene work, students learn how to captivate an audience and effectively communicate their message. Elective classes, such as improvisation and script writing, help students develop skills in specific areas.
  • Experienced instructors provide personalized feedback to each student, helping them identify areas for improvement and build upon their strengths. At the end of the workshop, students showcase their skills in a final performance, demonstrating their growth and accomplishments. Ensemble Scene Work is a key element of the workshop, emphasizing collaboration and teamwork to help students develop lifelong skills in communication, teamwork, and creative expression.
  • Instructors provide individualized feedback throughout the workshop, helping students gain a deeper understanding of ensemble acting and valuable skills in communication and collaboration. The Middle School Actors Workshop is a dynamic and rewarding experience that prepares students to confidently perform on stage in a variety of settings.
